Scenes from Thanksgiving

While I dried my hair this morning, Benjamin watched football, quite intently.

I used the last of the onions from the garden today, thankful to have onions from the garden
for this long.

Sage we grew and dried.

Pie, we had lots of pie.

Benjamin helping with set up.

Around the house

I could not finish my pie sampler plate. Look out treadmill, here I come, tomorrow. Good night all.

Happy Thanksgiving

My friend's daughter is taking a photography class so she took a few pictures for our Christmas card today. My how they grow. I am almost the shortest family member again.

Where has the time gone? He is growing up so quickly.

See ya tomorrow!

A Day

We spent the morning finishing up a few school things and then lots of kitchen time and some cleaning.
We had a short piano lesson today and a couple of errands to attend to. I planned more pies than I had pie plates for so I  had to go pick up a couple.
Judith had swimming tonight then we came home and made dinner and cleaned up the kitchen and made pies. Judith made cherry pie and peeled and sliced apples for an apple pie. I made a pumpkin pie and Elisabeth made two chocolate pies. After everyone went to bed, I emptied the dishwasher and made two pumpkin rolls, the cake part.
The kitchen is closed for tonight, I am tired, but a good tired. Tomorrow we will do it all over again.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Prep and Sidetracked

I am one who would rather create messes than clean. I clean because I have to.

Monday three friends and I had a tree topper making party. In the middle of the day, gasp! Yes, we are wild and crazy like that. The kids that were here all went adventure sledding which, I think involves a snow machine and a round sled? Not sure and there are some things Momma just does not need the details about. This is one of those times.
This is, was, my tree topper. My forever friend mentioned she liked it and wanted one so it is getting boxed up and mailed to her today. I can make another for me. I was honestly having a tough time making a tree topper without being in tree putting up mode because, well, that is kind of how I roll. I cannot think ahead like that very well. Must be why I am a horrible gift shopper.
Speaking of sidetracked, I decided to rearrange the master bedroom because my husband was out hunting. That is now put back together.
I am side track Sue. Today is Thanksgiving cleaning and prep cooking day and I am blogging about other stuff.

I received a gift basket from my Hidden Honey on Sunday. I put away the goodies inside and deposited my knitting in this basket.
This is my basket at the pool on Monday. Knitting, my water and my notebook for list making. Whoo boy, I'm thinking ahead finally.

Stocking up on the pumpkin, taking advantage of sale prices and availability.

Stocking up for cooking and baking. Yes, that is cream of mushroom soup. I am taking it easy ob my self and making one dish with this. The other will have the homemade version.

List making.

Giving Thanks

Psalm 95

95 O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.

5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Something a little different

I am not 100% with any man or group, there is a lot of hoopla around the Robertson family right now and this video is a great watch.

Forty-three

This morning was birthday morning, Benjamin
enjoyed going before to my breakfast and presents. Judith made me go backwards and then they dropped balloons from above, see the ribbons hanging down?

They had me open presents first thing. Yes, my hair is wet, hey, at least I am out of jammies and dressed.

My former hair dryer brush thing broke so I asked for a new one for my birthday, because well, I cannot go back to a hair dryer and round brush. This one is by John Freida. So far so good.

While I was drying my hair and watching cooking shows, Elisabeth brought me my daily water. :-)

Benjamin had a preschool science class this afternoon. On the way we passed these ice carvers working. This dentist office has an angel carved every single year.

Benjamin's class was planting bulbs, paper white bulbs, to be exact.

And there was snack, always snack.
The sky upon returning home from the class, around 2:00 pm.
Warmer temperatures, cloudy skies.

Selfie, yes on occasion I take a selfie.

Maybe not rare occasions but on occasions, such as when I want to see how a project is coming along. I am making a hat for Levi, the last hat I made him fit Benjamin.

Oh, there was halibut and chocolate cake today too!

I had to screenshot this Instsgram that came across my feed today.
Who says seventeen year olds are not great? This one is!
I've know her since she was about two, her family moved away and came back a few years ago. Glad her parents brought her back to me;-)

Frigid

I woke up and checked the temperature and wanted to crawl back into bed for the day. But,I couldn't, there was a busy day ahead of me.

The temperature on the way to piano this morning.

Me and my crew all bundled and warm.

Judith and her piano buddy.

We had to go to town for a meeting for the Blessings so we stopped by DMV for Levi to take his permit test. He didn't pass. I guess Alaska has a tough test. He will study more and try again soon and he will pass. I almost didn't post this picture but I decided that I will be a blogger that gives a well rounded representation of our life.

The temperature on the way home tonight, thankful for warming up.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I hear my older three decorating the dining room for me. Blessed, truly blessed.

Thirty-five Below

We woke up to -30ish degree temperatures. The house is not cold by any means but the wood stove is on the other side of the house from the kitchen and dining room. So, I figured it was a great day to warm up the kitchen by roasting the only pumpkin we harvested from our garden.

I poked it with a knife a few times and baked it whole. I saw this idea over at Heavenly Homemakers.

Oh, my blur, I love my blur.

Today was the day our friends come over for the morning, I thought these two were cute sitting in the same chair.

One really good thing about thirty-five below is that the sky is clear and the sun is shining.

I cut up some stale bread today and dried it out for the Thanksgiving dressing. My favorite day of the year is coming!!!!!!

We ended the evening with the last night of revival meetings, yes at these cold temps we still went to church. Tomorrow night we have a different preacher preaching with a missions emphasis.
The forecast calls for warming up tomorrow, we shall see.
