No pictures

This week has been one of ny favorites so far this summer. First off the first three days were spent at home. I did go to North Pole each day but that is a measly three mile drive. Secondly, much has happened around the house and we have had some down time at home as well. Third, after all the working and time at home we enjoyed an afternoon visiting with friends and then we went home and had dinner and headed to the local lake for some sun and a dip in the ice cold water. We had such a great day that no pictures were taken. Trust me, we had a great day!

Planning and Lifestyle

My husband and I on our way to Delta for Levi's first baseball game of the season. And yes, I am the one wearing camouflage, that is a strange turn of events in our family.

 

Delta is known for being a windy city. Today, she held true to being a windy city.

Neither my husband or myself know where this particular clothing item came from but I am thankful to have found this in the coat closet this morning. This thing is pretty wind proof and I was able to stay toasty warm.  I am also glad I grabbed a hat on the way out the door because that wind blew my hair all over the place.

 

There was a play ground next to the ball field. We took turns going over with Benjamin to play. 

 

Benjamin is always dressed well for the ball field. Every single game. 

 

Oh, and there was a ball game with this really great guy playing. And they won this game. 

 

We left home early and arrived back home around the dinner time which meant two meals on the road, outside of my home with all the healthy stuff I normally have at my fingertips. But, I planned and my wonderful daughters helped pack healthy choices and I managed a very good food day in the chaos of the day away from home. The family had burgers at the local IGA in Delta, yes I said the local grocery store, they actually have a pretty decent burger there. I opted for protein bars that Judith had made yesterday as I was still pretty full from lunch. I am amazed at how quickly I fill up on much less food than I used to consume.  

Wood Work

Elisabeth has been interested in working with wood for some time and this past year she has been slowly learning, gathering needed tools and experimenting with wood. She has shown an interest in creating rings out of wood. Here is the ring she made for me.

 

Here is a ring, before staining, that she made as an item to be auctioned at a fund raiser she and her leadership team mates are having to raise funds for an upcoming trip to Boston.

She also made a gift for our homeschool teacher with her wood burner. 

Weekend Goings on

The weekend here begins on Thursday night, we played Pictionary and Apples to Apples.

                        Friday consisted of a morning of school and then swim practice                                           and  then off to a camp fundraiser dinner/auction.

                         Saturday, Daddy took the kids snowmachine riding and target shooting while I stayed home in complete silence and baked bread and did a little cleaning. 

Elisabeth made these pint sized chocolate meringue pies when she returned home from the day out and Judith made egg rolls, which we did not photograph for some reason. Oh, yeah, we were eating them too quickly.

Sunday: Church, baseball assessments for Elisabeth, lunch at home with friends, back to church, home for popcorn and bedtime.

Monday afternoon with my Sweetheart Buddy. I love five!

Benjamin and I had a tough time staying inside this afternoon, he found a ball that had spent the winter under the snow. We walked the dog and talked and walked some more. 

Happy Thanksgiving

 

My friend's daughter is taking a photography class so she took a few pictures for our Christmas card today. My how they grow. I am almost the shortest family member again.

 

 

 

Where has the time gone? He is growing up so quickly.

Levi pitched tonight, the entire game. Shew, being the Mom of the pitcher is tense! And, his team won their first game.

One happy guy, he LOVES playing baseball.

The Past Week

What a week! Last Monday I attended day one of a two day curriculum fair in town. There were two speakers that I enjoyed most, Tom Clark and the fantastic Debbie Strayer and Jim Weiss, storyteller was there as well. In fact, his wife gave Judith one of his cds on the second day of the fair. She was thrilled!

I bought the core components of our curriculum for next year while at the fair. I came home and gave everything a look see. Maybe the snowflake pajama pants have something to do with the continuing snow?  

Wednesday I was glad to be home with my crew and back to our normal school day at HOME!

Elisabeth had a dental procedure on Thursday, we kept busy in the waiting room.

Just a little numb.

I finally gave Benjamin a haircut.

Levi avoids pictures, I take them anyway.

We planted seeds.

The garden is a mess but at least the snow is almost gone, I think the crew is outside clearing and cleaning up this spot as I type.

And, that brings us to today. The local used curriculum sale day.
I made a few dollars and found a couple of neat things for Benjamin.

Levi and the boys from Leadership Team selling used curriculum for a fundraiser for their Leadership Team.

I loved this tap board I found for Benjamin and so does he.

Benjamin was such a trooper today inside at the curriculum sale, he kept going between my table and the table the older three were working and we played a game and he played with my phone and he had lunch because he “looked” hungry. His new phrase which I happen to enjoy greatly. He came home and got his muddy buddy boots on and hopped on his bike and then he threw some rocks. That boy loves being outside!



The rest of the week is back to normal, for which I am abundantly thrilled.

We finished another unit

Benjamin began our presentation time with his Before Five in a Row book, Ask Mr. Bear by Marjorie Flack  but we didn’t get any pictures.

Levi presented about Francis Scott Key, the presidents they studied during the unit and he read a poem he wrote.

And when you have a four year old little brother, he insists on helping with your presentation.

While Levi was presenting, Judith was finishing up some last minute things for her presentation. Oh, she is my child.

Our unit was called Nation Building, so Elisabeth shared how land was added to the United States.

When your map holder gets side tracked you hold your own map.

When we read the Postscript from the Author yesterday we realized that my husband might be on to something with his new word parfictional. Read the second paragraph here.

The girls science study for this unit was oceans and they made this salt dough model. I really tried to stay out of this one and let them follow the directions and complete this project. They did a really good job. They still need to paint, which they may do so this afternoon.
