Better

Here I am again with a large gap between posts. Dad, I will get better...someday.

It has been a week or two since the ice fishing setlines have produced any catches. Saturday they pulled this burbot out of the ice hole. Quite a big one at that. This one weighed 10 pounds and 36 inches long. I was told this is an old burbot? Usually 10 year olds are correct in information giving.

More Punched Ears

Well, Blessing #2 took the plunge and had her ears pierced today. She had a little encouragement from a friends of ours. She chose green, her favorite color.

This girl has an independent mind, and when she makes up her mind, she makes up her mind. She has made up her mind about something else as well...more on that when it happens.

I don't have a new baby picture uploaded but I got a couple of really good ones this week and failed to get it into photobucket with these pictures. He is growing so quickly.

Finding time

Finding time to blog lately has been challenging....

Last Tuesday we had milkshakes, Mrs. L brought her milkshake machine and we had yummy milkshakes. And built an African hut and made and decorated flower and moose shaped brownies.

I finally finished this for blessing #1, it is a little too big so I will add some elastic thread around the face to tighten it up a little.

Blessing #4 is growing so fast, he is now three months old.

There wasn't a build this week but the kids and Mrs. L decorated a Petter Rabbit garden cake. They had fun and I think they did a great job and worked well together for the most part. Mrs. L and I worked on a little sewing project and the girl blessings had to get some sewing machine time in as well.

Blessing #1 was taking pictures today and snapped this one of the Beatrix Potter character Mrs. L brought. I think he did a great job. We just love Beatrix Potter books around here and so does Mrs. L.

Tonight's dinner

I thought I would explain about Burbot. You can read about this fish by clicking on the name and read more here, this article talks about setlines and I think that is what they are doing. It is a white fish and looks like a catfish, eel and pike all mixed together. My husband and blessings have been going daily to fish for these guys. They have caught a few and we have given them away. There was a burbot brought home yesterday so it made it to our table tonight. I love eating something so fresh! I found this picture on line, I was feeding a baby when the fish arrived home yesterday and didn't get a picture before the fish was prepared for our table.

Ears

Tonight after church my husband needed to stop and get a new watch band. While we were next to the jewelry counter blessing #3 asked if she could get her ears "punched". She has been asking for quite a while but she always asks me when my husband isn't around to ask. Tonight, Daddy was with us and she remembered to ask and he said yes.  She was one happy girl!!!

Do you see the pretty Dall Sheep above her head?

They say she looks like me...I don't see it, but she does look like some of my pictures when I was her age.

For my family

Oh my, I just can't seem to post regularly any more at all! Maybe it is because of Facebook and seeming so in touch with many of my friends...oh well, none the less, the blog does need attention.

What have we been up to..surviving. I'm thankful not to be moving like Jenn is so bravely doing. We are schooling and cooking and cleaning and as Pollyanna says just living. (If you haven't read Pollyanna you should! Go to your library and check it out) I have been enjoying making bread again and planning and cooking meals for my family. I have enjoyed having azure standard co-op to order from and have enjoyed their organic fuji apples, yummy! I have been researching whole foods and have made kefir, we have been enjoying kefir smoothies with spinach, don't tell the blessings, they don't know that the spinach is in there!!!

While Pa-pa was here we were finally able to dedicate blessing #4, we were waiting for our Pastor Emeritus to be there, he was not able to attend services for a while. I realized after I uploaded this picture that my husband was directing Pa-pa to move to the other side for picture taking...oh well, my eyes were closed!!

Bathing the baby is a huge deal around here. Only once have I had the chance to bath him alone. There are always two or three people standing behind me watching. Actually, it is nice because they hand me things and get wash cloths and towels and diapers, etc. This baby will grow up thinking that everyone must watch him take a bath!!

Isn't this robe adorable...gifts, gotta love them, I wouldn't have bought a robe!

We use the dryer as a changing table during bath time.

Weekly Menu

I haven't posted our menu in a very long time....I didn't have a menu during pregnancy . Now that I am post pregnancy and desiring normal I have been making weekly menus and actually cooking.

Monday } Salmon Quiche with brown rice crust

Tuesday} Cinnamon Rolls and fruit

Wednesday} Souper Wednesday / Vegetable Moose Soup and Grilled Cheese

Thursday } Calzone and Salad

Friday } Halibut and Salmon, Baked Potatoes, Cole Slaw and Salad

Saturday } Burgers and Baked Fries

Sunday} Crockpot Peppercorn Steak with egg noodles and salad

I will note here that I had a different plan to begin with but we have the opportunity and priviledge to have our guest speaker and his lovely wife, for our Family Conference Revival at church this week, in our home for a meal. Thus, the halibut and salmon for Friday dinner. Flexibility is key!!!! And this is a couple that I am thrilled to get into our home.
