Ending the Week

Our week ended quite busily. I am beginning to believe busy is the new norm for us. Even though out busy is probably different from most people.

Thursday and Friday were carrot canning days. I finally got all of the carrots processed.

Thursday afternoon Judith spent the afternoon with a dear lady from church learning to make soft caramels.
Here she is with her set, cut and wrapped caramels. Yummy!

Friday the guys spent the day working for two of our widows at church and going to a high school football game to watch one of the guys from church play the game. We had some a couple of friends of the girls over along with a little brother.

Saturday has already been blogged about in my previous Upland Game Bird post.

Upland Bird Hunting

Half of the fam went upland bird hunting today, the other half stayed home, slept in and watched movies, cooked dinner and baked.

North Pole Branch Library

Change is coming soon. Our little library has outgrown its building, well it actually did a long time ago. A new building has been built. The old library closes next week and the new one opens in a month.
I have. been going to this library for twenty-one years.

We have enjoyed many story times, classes, summer reading programs and just hanging out here.

And puzzle putting together.

Once the new library opens we plan on spending an afternoon of school work at the new library to enjoy all the space.

Good thing all the people are moving to the new library, they are the best.

A work in progress. I broke out my craftiness and I am making my first hand painted sign listing hymn titles.

Sharing

Two pics, two days

I rarely drive anymore so now I do things like take random selfies while going down the road.

I still love IEW Primary Arts of Language Reading and Writing.  We are in review mode starting today. Benjamin is doing so well and I
want to make sure we have the first fifteen lessons mastered before moving on. Which means we will be playing games and reviewing readers.

We played Match It! today. Match It =memory. Usually I give out m&m*s for matches bit today Benjamin asked for drinks of my smoothie instead.  He and I are fighting off colds so that was a good choice.

September

Moose season has come and ended with moose meat in the freezer, see the horns on the four wheeler of the guy drinking water? Yep, that is the rack of the moose. My sweetie wanted a picture of all the hunters so he took this here selfie on a rest break on the way out of moose camp.

Levi in the wall tent
The wall tent at night. My husband could easily be a photographer.

Judith was the only meat cutting help as Levi and Elisabeth were at a two day SAT prep class. I helped as well but I was in and out dropping off and picking up the others. She was concentrating and did not notice I took a picture.

After the meat was processed, in the freezer and the equipment cleaned and put away, which took all day Thursday we had a little time to do other things on Friday.
Friday was another class day for two so the remainder of the fam took a quick drive up north while the fall colors were at their peak. I am glad we went because the clouds rolled in that evening.
Our "wedge" (that is what he calls himself), he loves me.
The selfie, best we could do as we were standing on the side of the road.
Happy fall everyone. Today was seventy degrees, no, that is not a typo. I am serious. It may have been a cloudy day but it was a beautifully warm day. I was outside in short sleeves and flip flop riding the mower with the leaf catcher attachment and loving every second of the warmth. A nice way to end the cold, rainy summer.

Curriculum Swap

A dear friend and fellow home school Mom put together a curriculum swap. Monday morning began with a prayer brunch. Then the sorting, organizing and reorganizing curriculum and books as our fellow moms brought in and took out used curriculum began. We had young ladies there to keep a watchful eye on younger children as Moms perused tables and visited with other Moms. Who doesn't love two days visiting with friends? The leftover items were divided up among a used bookstore, the literacy council and the transfer site reuse area, which I learned today I had to call the blessing place instead of the dump. Friends, gotta love them.

One of the Moms figured that about fifty families came through the doors over the two days. We met old friends and met a few new faces. The facebook group gained a few new additions so more moms have found a place to learn about local home school news. Yay!

Hard Frost

Y'all we had our first hard frost. We have had a few light frosts over the past couple of weeks but this one was a killer, literally. Levi had a dentist appointment this morning and when we returned home we uncovered the garden to glean what was left. A few green beans were left so we are having green beans and new potatoes for dinner. Potaotes and carrots will be dug up over the weekend. Putting the garden to be is always sad.

Opening Day

I joined my husband for opening day of duck season. I got up at five am.

Pond in the early morning.

The real duck hunter.

A duck blind selfie

We had one duck come in mid morning.

I went home and went back to bed for a nap.

I posted a couple of videos a post or two down below. Nothing too exciting but it shows Emmy in fetching up action.
