Getting by

Just checking in, we will not be "our normal" for quite some time but we are making it through daily. I am not horribly sick just super ultra sensitive to smells and I cannot stand anything whole grain. Bread making has been suspended for at least a month. I am sad to say but this lady cannot stand the smell or sight of her own homemade bread. This pregnancy is very similar to my first in that I am tired, and have food dislikes but I can eat and actually crave really flavorful foods, mainly eating within my desires. The blessings around here are used to a posted planned menu each week. I get asked many times a day what is for lunch or dinner. My standard answer is that I do not know, yet! So, I must go finish my Lucky Charms...isn't that horrible? I think so, but oh well.  I will have salad later today and some fresh pinneapple that i picked up last night at Sam's!

Last week

Last week was a week of surprise, a feeling of being overwhelmed, nausea, joy, shock, amazement, what do these things mean? Yep, you guessed it, we are having baby number 4!!  That is why last week was very quiet here around the old blog home. I will be going to the doctor in about two weeks so we will gain a better "due date" then. From my calculations (and with the help of an online  pregnancy calculator) we should have a baby some time in December. Oh, yeah, Jane, you were right only... I wasn't trying to tell you all something, but my body was!!

Sunny Morning

I woke up to sunshine coming in the windows this morning, what a welcome change from Monday morning.  There temps are still dipping down to single digits at night but that will soon pass. There just isn't that much to post about today, so I must go have breakfast.

It's snowing?

Yes, it is snowing, quite aggressively at that. It has snowed inches already. Guess what? This is Alaska and we do not have normal weather.  Look at April 10th here last year (ignore the pink picture as that was a camera malfunction) and And here we were six days ago  And here we are today. The upside? This will go away fast. And spring is just around the corner.

Here we go again

One of the girls has relapsed and had another episode of stomach issues early this morning.  This child is skinny enough as is, she can't take much more of this! I will be cleaning and disinfecting today, I may never get to the clothes for the second day of sheets!! Just kidding, the bedding is almost finished through the laundry.

All is well

We are all well this morning. I am glad, we have already had breakfast and Bible. Now I must go reprogram my blessings as a week of heading out early for testing probably all thought of chores are lost.

What a weekend

We have had the sickies around here. Friday night the stomach bugs invaded two little tummies. By 4:00am we had had quite a few episodes and I was ready to tag the next player and finish the nights race. By the time I woke up at around 7:30 am, I knew it was going to be a day in bed. My stomach had hurt but obviously not as badly as the others. But, my body ached all over. That was it just never comfortable and no relief.  Thankfully, it was Saturday and Dad was home to take care of everything else. The other sickies and I stayed home this morning and they just headed back this evening with Dad, I am no longer in pain but left with a residual headache, probably a lack of nourishment and fluids. I finally ate a little this afternoon. It also snowed here today! How funny, it has been warmer for a while. Oh well, it will probably all melt tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting back to normal tomorrow. Testing is over and we can get back to regularly scheduled school.

Mothers and Daughters at Home

Kim over at Graceful Girlhood is encouraging a monthly Mothers and Daughters at home evening. You can go to her blog to read more. We are definitely planning on participating in this one. My girls love lady bugs so we will have a ladybug filled evening. I am thinking cupcakes, red drinks, cute cups and plates, and so forth.

Snow recession

Here are a couple of pictures of the snow. Each day more will disappear and soon after that things will begin to green up. Our neighbor hood had someone come and clear the slush on our road. We had a big snow fall year this year so it is the first year in too many to count that we have had to "give" any money to the pot to have any snow removal done. There is also talk of grading our road this summer as well. That would be great as we have lived here for 13 years and nothing has ever been done to our road. I think it is time.

I took this picture standing just outside the dining room door looking right. See my husband's canoe carrier in the back?

This picture is at the same door looking left. This boat was covered up past the steering wheel this winter.

Break up

Well, it is officially break up here in the Interior. More snow melts daily and puddles are beginning to develop at the perimeters of our yard. The blessings have been playing outside every day now for about three weeks. They are enjoying a consistent daily time out of doors. (So am I!!) Today finds me at home. Blessing #1 has one more test to complete today, then he and Daddy are going to do so spring hunting prep and other manly things that I am unsure of at this point. All I know is that they took the dog. I can sweep and vacuum and have a dog hair free day(and dog prints too)!! I will get a complete rundown of the day when they return home later. The girls and I plan a day at home with no definite plans at this point. I do have a mental to do list but it isn't that long. I need to do some curriculum catalog perusing so that may happen this afternoon.

Pictures

These first two pictures are not the best but they are what I have. The first one is blessing #3 showing a purse she sewed this weekend while I was sewing my apron. The second picture is her after picture from pulling her own tooth. She is the only child I have that would pull its own tooth! Last is my apron.

I used to love this apron style but it is not my favorite anymore. It is also definitely utilatarian in nature as I am horrible to get stains on my shirts and I am not sacrificing anymore of my shirts. I am still looking for a smock type pattern that comes together quickly. Then, I will make a cute apron!
