More Punched Ears

Well, Blessing #2 took the plunge and had her ears pierced today. She had a little encouragement from a friends of ours. She chose green, her favorite color.

This girl has an independent mind, and when she makes up her mind, she makes up her mind. She has made up her mind about something else as well...more on that when it happens.

I don't have a new baby picture uploaded but I got a couple of really good ones this week and failed to get it into photobucket with these pictures. He is growing so quickly.

Finding time

Finding time to blog lately has been challenging....

Last Tuesday we had milkshakes, Mrs. L brought her milkshake machine and we had yummy milkshakes. And built an African hut and made and decorated flower and moose shaped brownies.

I finally finished this for blessing #1, it is a little too big so I will add some elastic thread around the face to tighten it up a little.

I just love this picture of blessing #3 and blessing #4

Blessing #4 is growing so fast, he is now three months old.

There wasn't a build this week but the kids and Mrs. L decorated a Petter Rabbit garden cake. They had fun and I think they did a great job and worked well together for the most part. Mrs. L and I worked on a little sewing project and the girl blessings had to get some sewing machine time in as well.

Blessing #1 was taking pictures today and snapped this one of the Beatrix Potter character Mrs. L brought. I think he did a great job. We just love Beatrix Potter books around here and so does Mrs. L.

Tonight's dinner

I thought I would explain about Burbot. You can read about this fish by clicking on the name and read more here, this article talks about setlines and I think that is what they are doing. It is a white fish and looks like a catfish, eel and pike all mixed together. My husband and blessings have been going daily to fish for these guys. They have caught a few and we have given them away. There was a burbot brought home yesterday so it made it to our table tonight. I love eating something so fresh! I found this picture on line, I was feeding a baby when the fish arrived home yesterday and didn't get a picture before the fish was prepared for our table.

May the Lord find us faithful.

Ears

Tonight after church my husband needed to stop and get a new watch band. While we were next to the jewelry counter blessing #3 asked if she could get her ears "punched". She has been asking for quite a while but she always asks me when my husband isn't around to ask. Tonight, Daddy was with us and she remembered to ask and he said yes.  She was one happy girl!!!

Do you see the pretty Dall Sheep above her head?

They say she looks like me...I don't see it, but she does look like some of my pictures when I was her age.

For my family

Oh my, I just can't seem to post regularly any more at all! Maybe it is because of Facebook and seeming so in touch with many of my friends...oh well, none the less, the blog does need attention.

What have we been up to..surviving. I'm thankful not to be moving like Jenn is so bravely doing. We are schooling and cooking and cleaning and as Pollyanna says just living. (If you haven't read Pollyanna you should! Go to your library and check it out) I have been enjoying making bread again and planning and cooking meals for my family. I have enjoyed having azure standard co-op to order from and have enjoyed their organic fuji apples, yummy! I have been researching whole foods and have made kefir, we have been enjoying kefir smoothies with spinach, don't tell the blessings, they don't know that the spinach is in there!!!

While Pa-pa was here we were finally able to dedicate blessing #4, we were waiting for our Pastor Emeritus to be there, he was not able to attend services for a while. I realized after I uploaded this picture that my husband was directing Pa-pa to move to the other side for picture taking...oh well, my eyes were closed!!

Bathing the baby is a huge deal around here. Only once have I had the chance to bath him alone. There are always two or three people standing behind me watching. Actually, it is nice because they hand me things and get wash cloths and towels and diapers, etc. This baby will grow up thinking that everyone must watch him take a bath!!

Isn't this robe adorable...gifts, gotta love them, I wouldn't have bought a robe!

We use the dryer as a changing table during bath time.

I took baby blessing outside for a very short time today.

Weekly Menu

I haven't posted our menu in a very long time....I didn't have a menu during pregnancy . Now that I am post pregnancy and desiring normal I have been making weekly menus and actually cooking.

Monday } Salmon Quiche with brown rice crust

Tuesday} Cinnamon Rolls and fruit

Wednesday} Souper Wednesday / Vegetable Moose Soup and Grilled Cheese

Thursday } Calzone and Salad

Friday } Halibut and Salmon, Baked Potatoes, Cole Slaw and Salad

Saturday } Burgers and Baked Fries

I will note here that I had a different plan to begin with but we have the opportunity and priviledge to have our guest speaker and his lovely wife, for our Family Conference Revival at church this week, in our home for a meal. Visit and daily life

I am finally getting around to posting. I really like to post with pictures so that has kept me from posting lately. I am going to have to let that little perfectionist part of me go and post anyway. We had a wonderful visit with my fried Patti. I truly appreciate her taking the time off from work and away from her family to come see me and my blessings (she mainly came to see the blessings, actually the newest blessing), she just wasn't going to wait until we could get to the lower 48, she wanted to see that baby!!! I am thankful for her willingness to travel all this way. We had a great time just visiting and playing with blessings and we went bowling. Our blessings had never been bowling, blessing #1 did best, he is oldest and strongest and he is naturally athletic. Wait I do have a picture ready of bowling. Okay I didn't upload any bowling pictures, just a picture of us at the bowling alley.

My blessings call Patti Pa-Pa so I usually call her that as well, her daughter calls me Marmey. Any way, Pa-Pa played games and made play dough with the blessings, we also made a couple of our favorite things together and even tried a new Nutter Butter Banana Pudding recipe from the latest issue of Southern Living. It was yummy by the way. I learned a few unknown things about Facebook while Pa-Pa was here and blessing #3 learned to tie her shoes thanks to Pa-Pa and the new tennis shoes I bought for her. (Disclaimer: If you know us personally or are a grandparent, I do hang my head in shame for not teaching her earlier...BUT, she did know how to ride a bicycle when she was THREE!!!!) We wear alot of slip on shoes around here. AND, she did learn in about three minutes!!!! Thanks Pa-Pa.

The blessings got Pa-Pa to go for a snowmachine ride while she was here.

Weekly????

What did we do these past seven days?

Last week our Hideaway in History was an English castle. Here is our three wing castle:

I didn't get a full picture but here it is tower and flags included.

Last Tuesday we also made strawberry cupcakes for Valentine's Day, I did not know that I like strawberry cupcakes until last week. Yes, I do like them Sam I Am.

January2009216.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

Wednesday was a normal school day at home and Thursday and Friday was a testing day for Blessing #1. On Thursday the girls and I visited with friends in town and we made egg rolls. This was my first time and they were yummy. I just realized I didn't take pictures of the egg roll making, shame on me.

On Friday, the other blessings and I were able to stay home and Dad did the testing drop off and pick up. On the way home they picked up bunk beds for the girls...the beds were damaged so back they went Saturday morning and bunk beds for the boys room came home instead.

January2009260.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

We are all adjusting to having a baby in the house. Yatzee anyone?

January2009222.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

And on Sunday we had a birthday in our house.

January2009270.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

Yes, Dad's birthday was this weekend. We found Steelers plates and napkins due to the Super Bowl so we decided on a Steelers theme for Dad's birthday table. I also made him a new recipe called Duck Bog. It was actually very good and a new favorite of his, finally a way to use up all that duck in the freezer.

January2009273.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

I must go, blessing #4 is hungry.....wait, speaking of blessing #4 here is his picture of the week. Daddy can always make our babies smile and laugh first...I can't believe he is now 8 weeks old.

I really want to blog, but...

time just slips away most days and I do not post. I do read the blogs of others thanks to my time saver bloglines. Last week we learned about Vikings and on Tuesday the blessings built a longhouse with Mrs. L and they made white chocolate covered pretzels. Yummo! Blessing #4 also had a well child check up and he weighed in at 11 pounds 13 ounces. I never got a picture of the completed longhouse but I did take a picture of the pretzels, you can see where my priorities lie.

January2009166.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

This week we are studying Britian and they built a castle. I think I will let them paint this one so I will post pictures when that is finished. They also made strawberry cupcakes and Valentine sprinkles, I found out today that I like strawberry cake and frosting. Those pictures are still on the camera so they will have to wait for another post.

Speaking of food (bear with me, I didn't like or enjoy food for 8 months, we are getting reaquainted) I dug out the grain and mill and made bread twice last week. That was wonderful.  Yes we pick at the end of one loaf as soon as it comes out of the oven, try it it is extra yummy!

January2009206.jpg picture by kaysmarmey

And, I just can't seem to post with a picture of this little guy, he is beginning to smile and coo and all those other lovely baby things...I know the picture quality isn't great but it is still a cute picture.
