Three Year Old Days

Benjamin has gotten to the point that he needs to be kept constantly busy during school days. Otherwise he can get into much mischief and we really do not want that to happen. Over the summer Benjamin's fall "school" time activities will be gathered and organized in an effort to ensure peaceful days of learning for all of us here on the last frontier.
In the mean time, we will read books and play with clay until spaces can be cleaned and supplies organized.
This is becoming th story of my life...

  1. I can TOTALLY hear your voice, inflection and all, saying, "and we really do not want that to happen."

And I am in the background shouting a hearty AMEN. Dude has taken to doing school with us. I just can't turn the critter loose anymore. BAAAAAD things happen.

  2. I miss those days, OK, only a little! I do remember them, however, and you are wise to have a plan in place. I remember trying to cram school in during nap times and also having an older child "babysit" the youngest while I worked with the middle or oldest.

  3. I'm thinking this will be the story of my life in a year and a half too. Oh boy!

  4. Such a cute picture, and a good idea. I never dealt with that, but I've heard it said that having a 'school box' for preschoolers, that they can only use during school helps. :)

  5. Haha, I don't envy you, but still, would give anything if the girls were little again and we could do it all over again. They grow up way to quickly.

About "All American History". Yes, there is one negative. They are pretty good books and we LOVE, love, love all the photos, but, dispite it being written by a pastor's wife, it is very generic on giving any Biblical pros or cons to anything. I suppose she wrote it thinking it might be more accepted in a school setting as well, but I would say it's not something you want to just let a child do on their own, but better to have mama/teacher add a few words of wisdom here and there. For instance, she will mention Roe v. Wade abortion, but is very neutral. We followed the book, but then also added the Home School in the Woods Time Traveler lessons & lapbook projects (we didn't do all the projects). It might be a little overly thorough that way & slows it down a bit, but it really worked for us.
