Snow Morning, In Which We Make Hot Cocoa

Today was supposed to be piano lesson day but our piano teacher lives out a bit and her husband and mine thought it best we postpone until later in the week. We received about nine inches of snow last night and there is more predicted in the forecast. We will see.

Being the boy that he is, Levi was chomping to get out there and shovel snow. The girls followed out for some deep snow fun.
I stayed inside to finish breakfast and make hot cocoa with my assistant.
Our favorite hot cocoa recipe is the one from the Hershey's Cocoa container. I actually followed the recipe this time, amazing.

We had leftover bacon in the freezer so I reheated that, threw some homemade freezer biscuits in the oven and scrambled some eggs. A cozy warm breakfast, with butter and honey on biscuits, yummy.

  1. We just tried home made hot chocolate too, close to the one on the Hersey's cocoa box. We'll try that one exactly next time. It did place pretty good. And that breakfast sounds yummy. :)

  2. So jealous of your snow. Samuel always wants to shovel too, even our meager dustings.

  3. Ha! I did't even realize there was a recipe on the container. I'll have to try it. Your breakfast sounds yummy. My 10yo made us scrambled eggs this morning.

  4. Homemade hot cocoa is divine! Sounds like you got quite a bit of snow. How are you doing with your exercising? I took the week off to get over this virus. You're going to have to ask me next week if I am back on track! :-)

  6. Wow, you sure put on a spread for breakfast. Our's is usually a fend meal...every girls for themselves. I'll have to try that hot chocolate recipe. My favorite it the Nestle Rich Chocolate packets - topped with whipped cream, but the girls prefer Swiss Miss with the tiny marshmallows. So have you had a mild winter there too until now? We got dumped on last week, but it's melting nicely now.

    1. Jane, the only way I can do a breakfast like that is to have the biscuits flash frozen in the freezer and leftover bacon in the fridge. Scrambled eggs are easy.
Our winter has been horrible. Frigid spells and then warming up to above freezing enough to make the roads slick for a while. Then cold again for a few weeks. But the past six weeks have been mild and the winter is almost exhausted so a foot of snow was welcome for end of winter outdoor activities.
