I have been one week without using shampoo or conditioner. I am using a baking soda water combo for washing and a apple cider vinegar for a conditioning rinse.
I think my baking soda to water ratio is off. My scalp has been itching and a little dry. I will adjust the ratio and keep going.
I didn't do much to my hair today but wash and dry as my little companion woke up in the middle of my drying session so the rest of the process had to be fast.
Looks like you are doing great. I have to jump into this soon. I haven't taken the plunge...yet. I am using up my shampoo so I can use the bottle. [o=

I really like your cut! Not sure what to do about the itching. I am able to go 2 days in between washings now. I think the transition period was hard. Hang in there. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn. I am washing every other day. I think I am using too much baking soda. So, before I wash tomorrow I will adjust the amount. Guess I will do a baking soda/ vinegar drain rinse. Good thing this is just baking soda!!!
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted. I've heard of this and it sounds healthy. :o)
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! We finally got our inverter, so now I'm able to visit a little more. Your new hair style looks great! Thank you for the baking soda/vinegar idea. I have used either homemade soap or Dr. Bronners for years. I like using a liquid. My hair is long and the bars tangle it, although not nearly as much as store-bought bars. I will try the baking soda and vinegar. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!

Oh how I love moose, thanks for taking those pictures!
ReplyDeleteYes, I have read that if the baking soda drys your hair/scalp too much, then use less baking soda. I have been doing the baking soda/vinegar for 2 weeks now and it only took a week for my hair to get use to it. I'm loving it!!!
LOVE your pretty layers too!!!
I go back and forth on this (have been using the no-poo method for almost 2 years). I find that if I wash daily it dries my hair out ~ I am now up to a week of no washing period, but I still get it wet when I shower. . . it has it's moments. ;-) I think letting the baking soda settle to the bottom and using just the water on top helps.
