Flooding

I am having to walk lightly around this subject these past few days as blessing #2 is quite concerned with weather related natural disasters lately and very concerned we will have a flood due to all the rain we have had lately. Well, there is flooding in our area just not right here where we live. We have some friends who are out of state right now who have a home that is close to flooding. Please pray for them at this time. The rain has subsided for today and the sun is actually out at our house so I pray that the weather is the same out their way as well. Their home has been sandbagged by co-workers of the husband and seems to be in good hands being supervised at this point. The flood danger should pass in the next day or two, depending upon the weather.

A date for surgery

Oh, what joy!! I am rejoicing in the Lord today for His answer to specific prayer requests. I received a call this morning from my Ear, Nose and Throat office this morning with a definite surgery date of August 5th!! I will be glad to have the surgery over with sooner than later and to experience this pregnancy with out this thyroid cancer. My prayer is to have a "normal' third trimester. The call today also gives my Mom time to get a ticket to get here in time for my surgery to be with my little blessings and to be there for me when I get home.

My sweetheart and my blessings left to go fishing in Valdez for pink salmon, just for fun. I will miss them tonight but they will be home tomorrow evening. I have a very busy day planned: I am at a friend's house helping her mistreat her windows and before we started we had a wonderful lunch from our favorite local Chinese restaurant, Pagoda. We are also enjoying some fellowship of my wonderful Pastor's wife and another one of the wonderful ladies from my church.
Tonight I have plans to go have Thai food with some of my friend's. This will be my first Thai food, so I am looking forward to trying that and visiting with more friends. This is a rare thing for me and I know that this not happen again for a few years after my new little blessing arrives in December.

Oh, I have my 20 week ultrasound on Monday but we will not be finding out whether we will be having a boy or girl. We will wait and have that one last surprise!

Two posts in two days, please don't faint!

Was my day productive?Yes. Can you tell? NO!!!

I did a few little things, like

  • laundry.

  • Clearing off items that fell off of my night stand during my first trimester.

  • Clearing off items hidden behind the treadmill during my first trimester.

  • Making NO Bake Cookies and

  •  Cream Cheese Banana Bread.  (It sure sounds and smells good, can't wait for it to come out of the oven)

  • Dusting some shelves and dressers in my bedroom.

  • Vacuuming behind the treadmill and nightstand

So, I am slowly moving toward getting this home back in order. The good news: I have a cleaning crew coming Thursday evening. I am so thrilled. I think it will be fantastic, actually like a party!!! That said, I am spending my week doing what I can do to make my time with help easier for me and them. I do need to work more in our bedroom because I am to do that room myself. I will make sure my bathrooms are cleaned well before sending someone in to clean the out of my reach light fixtures and high shelves. I am also planning on washing all the curtains to be put back up before they leave on Thursday.(only downside is the weather is not cooperating and we are cool, cloudy and drizzly at times, just yucky and I have been cold all day)

May the Lord find us faithful.

Ups and downs

This will definitely be a pregnancy that I will not soon forget, I guess it is like "they" (just who are they?) say, "going out with a bang".  I have felt well throughout all the testing and then the diagnosis and the wait to determine whether or not to have surgery now or wait. Now the date has been set and I feel as though I am regressing back to the way I felt about 4 weeks ago. But I must not dwell here long. There are so many things to do. Things to get in order, things to clean, things to keep, give away or toss. I must muddle through and find some order in this chaos.

It honestly does not seem to be effecting my children adversely  at all. They have just rolled through this whole thing so well. Blessing #1 turns 10 tomorrrow and he asked for a basketball goal. One came home with Dad last night and was put together and now I hear a ball dribbling and going through the hoop and lots of back and forth between my two players. If you know us personally, can you guess which two are playing?

I will try to down load pictures this weekend.

Surgery

I will be having surgery at the end of August to remove the side of my thyroid that has cancer. Wow, I am glad but now I dive headlong into an unknown area. Not quite where I like to leap but I know that it will all be okay. This will be my first surgery.

My news

I apologize for my delay in sharing my news here. It has just taken me a couple of days to digest what has been put on my plate. I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer on Wednesday. From what my family has been reading on this cancer, it is the best one to have as it is not aggressive and acts rather benign. Where do we go from here? Not quite sure today. I have my regular monthly OB appointment on Monday as well as an appointment with the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor to discuss where we go from here. I do know that the cancer has to be removed but there shouldn't be any other treatment necessary. Until I know more.....

Today

Well, I am definitely learning patience and to wait to "do the next thing" throughout this whole thyroid ordeal. Today was my initial visit with the ENT doctor. This was one of those situations where this is the doctor that orders the test/tests that I need. So today was the day I saw this new to me doctor and he ordered the tests. I go next Tuesday for my Fine Needle Aspiration and one other test that I do not know the name for. Once the tests are completed it will take 2-3 days for results to be sent to the docotor and then I will update here. I would appreciate your prayers as we travel down this road.
