Science Tuesday

I walked in on this scene after being indisposed or maybe hiding out. I cannot remember. I have slept since then.
A science lab going on without my dragging them through, yes, that happens here. Kudos, Blessings! Mommy is beyond happy to see this scene.
What were they doing? Seeing which blood types were safely mixable with other blood types.

Monday After Springing Forward

I thought I would get the better of Daylight Savings time and go to bed super early Saturday night. All I got was a good night's sleep because Sunday night I could not go to sleep and I had restless legs.

We all slept in later than normal, which we needed to not do since today was home school skate day. The older Blessings are part
of a team that organizes skating so they need to be there.

The Blessings working on school work and playing Blokus. How they do this I will never know.

Benjamin takes to the ice. He skates about 15-20 minutes and he is done.

After dinner game of Memory with Daddy.

After dinner ski.

A Fairly Uneventful Weekend

The weekend was busy but not crazy.

I took this picture AFTER Sunday School was over. Sunshine streaming in, ahh, finally.

Daylight at 8:04 pm, yes, thank you.

Tuesday

Today was field trip to the Army Hospital for a lesson in magnets from the MRI guy, thanks to my friend, the Queen and well her husband who arranged it all.
After the field trip we had lunch with our friends at the Post Exchange food court. I cannot believe I did not check the Baskin Robbins for World Class Chocolate or my other favorite flavor that I can not remember but I am sure I would if I saw it. Hey, I see a girl's night out with a stop for some BR ice cream.
Yes! I am coming out of my winter gotta focus on school and being home mode. Spring must be right around the corner.

Speaking of spring, the days are longer and Judith and I went skiing tonight before dinner. The sky was just lovely, gray clouds except for this v shaped spot.

Selfie time

I am slow, Judith was so far ahead of me.

Levi made a drive by while we were out skiing.

Judith on the levy and about to ski down, she made it with out a crash!

The rest of our crew were going out to check traps as we were making our way back home. My husband said we skied a mile, I feel it in my legs. Oh, why didn't I start this process earlier this winter? Oh well, I am going now.
Read about skiing. I forgot how wonderful a workout this was. I may not be able to get out of bed tomorrow but I feel great tonight!
I would say I am at the recreational almost brisk phase.

Monday

Oh, Monday slayed me this morning. I was downright discouraged first thing this morning. I have to agree with Benjamin when he told me Saturday night that he didn't like Sunday because it was Daddy's last day off. I agree, the weekends go too quickly.

If you have read anything around here for any time you probably know I am not a morning person but I do want to be one. I just struggle to get there.

I also allowed the fact that I wasn't a get up and going person keep me from being an exercising person. Then it hit me that I just needed to change my mindset. Now, I get up and get school started and then I exercise. Not my favorite schedule but it is working for now.

I found this picture of Elisabeth taken by Benjamin.

And we are off. Benjamin's skis came off four times. He ended up walking half way. I dropped him off at home and then I went out on my own.

Just the skies and me.

My legs sure can feel the ski workout.

Skiing

We always seem to wait until the end of February or beginning of March to get the cross-country skies out.

Friday night was Home school Mom's Night Out overnight retreat. I didn't stay all night due to early Saturday morning at the pool but I was out past my bedtime.

After swimming, I took a nap while Daddy and some of the Blesings put the skies to work.

Ahh, Alaska

You know you live in Alaska when:

--you are walking around a local shop downtown and the window is open in February

--you are walking into the pool and there are kids on the outdoor hockey rink in short sleeves.

--you really enjoy the fact that it isn't dark at the end of February when you leave swimming

We have enjoyed very mild temperatures today. Springtime is a coming.

Randomness of the day, Daddy and Benjamin playing with legos at the library.

Games

Being five in a family of older siblings must be challenging at times. First of all, the five year old often forgets he is five and attempts, often very successfully, to keep up with older siblings. Secondly, when everyone is busy with school work there is no one to help occupy the time. Thirdly, Mom is not okay with a five year old being occupied with television and other screens all.day.long. Fourthly, well, sometimes older siblings help out too much and our little guy isn't all that independent. And that is okay, he is growing up, learning and living a very happy and healthy life. Lastly, sometimes you have to drag out a game and play with Mom.

This afternoon, while all the older Blessings were busy with school work, Benjamin drug out Bowling Bunnies after a series of no answers to screen options. And we played and counted knocked over bunnies, added up scores (he won, by the way), and just had a good ole time playing a game. The time was passed and school work could move forward.

Photo taken from Amazon website because well, I just wasn't leaving the moment to go get my phone to take a picture.
